Environment and Conditions[]
- XBMC 11.0 (Eden) is running in Ubuntu 11.04 Linux
- The shared folders belong to a PC running Windows 7
- The Win 7 hostname is 'HIWIN7'
- HIWIN7 has a shared folder with share name 'Win7_Public' (the actual pathname is C:\Users\Public)
- A user called 'xbmc' has been created in both the Ubuntu and the Win 7 systems

Operations on the Ubuntu system[]
First, install the Samba components below on the Ubuntu 11.04 system:
$ sudo apt-get install smbfs $ sudo apt-get install nautilus-share
(The following command lines may not be necessary.)
$ sudo apt-get install samba $ sudo smbpasswd (set up a samba password for user 'xbmc')

XBMC[]
1. 進 Videos / Files 選擇 Add Videos...
2. 然後在 "Add Video source" 對話窗的 path box 上按 Enter，直接輸入路徑，例如：
smb://xbmc@hiwin7/win7_public/videos
(只輸入 smb://hiwin7/win7_public/videos 也可以。)
或者按 Browse button，然後在右邊的 source panel 中選擇 "Windows network (SMB)"
然後再以 source panel 的 GUI 操作。

- UPnP of the Windows 7 system has been enabled.
- XBMC is running on a Ubuntu 11.04 platform, which is in the same LAN of the Win7 PC.

然後在 Windows 7 的「檔案總管」/「網路」的「媒體裝置」list 中會出現 XBMC 裝置。(見圖1)

Double-click on XBMC device icon to open the XBMC media page with a web browser, and select Files on the Video page to see the video archive in the remote XBMC device. (見圖2)
