Ren Waltz or Ren the Virus Master also known as Virus Master, is the main antagonist of DreamWorks 2023 animated feature film, Penny.
He is an evil and malevolent Sorcerer, The Creator's older brother and Penny Peterson's arch-nemesis.
He was exiled from The Creator's Headquarters in Virtual World for 1000 years due to his betrayal to his younger brother The Creator.
He is voiced by Jude Law. who also played Pitch Black in Rise of the Guardians, Harlen Maguire in Road to Perdition, Brad Stand in I Heart Huckabees, King Vortigern in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel, Billy Hanson in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and a version of Tony Shepard in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

Virus Master is a very malevolent, cruel, callous, vengeful, evil and powerful Sorcerer. He is highly intelligent by using the power of the gem to disintegrate the entire virtual reality world out of existence.
I will never let the Creator stop me, and I will get rid of that Girl, if it's the last thing I ever do!
He appears to be wrathful and brutal towards his Virus Bot after getting a prediction of how he would fall to a Human Girl named Penny Peterson.
He can also be pretty murderous and dangerous at times during pushing Penny off a tower.

Past and Imprisonment[]
Long ago, before he turned truly evil, Virus Master was the first born and he was the loyal brother to The Creator. But then, Virus Master was so jealous of his Brother being the Administrator after his knowledge, only started to grow with greed and envy as he wanted power to rule the Universe. After his betrayal, The Creator made the fateful decision to banish him to the Island of Ruins for 1000 years, so he can’t cause any more damage.

Escaping the Island of Ruins[]
Back on the Island of Ruins, Master asks a Virus Bot if he has found the Creator’s headquarters. He soon overhears that a Girl called Penny has traveled from New York and arrived on Virtual World from a Virus Bot. He violently attacks his Virus Bot and threatens him with a snarl. He throws a mental breakdown over that he will never let his Brother stop him, and he is now planning to kill the human girl. However, he then realized that the Virus Bot had found a way out for him to escape the Island of Ruins.
Taking Over Virtual World[]
Virus Master has finally arrived at the Creator’s Headquarters in Virtual World. Telling The Creator that he has been waiting for 1000 years of his exile, even boastfully mentions that Penny has come from the Human World. As Penny confronts him, Virus Master essentially threatens her that he wants to be more powerful than any other being in this world, The Creator shouts at him telling that he cannot use his magic on a small girl. Soon a Virus bot attacks The Creator, which makes Penny severe in rage and shrieks at Virus Master to let his brother go and attacks him by pulling his hair. But he pushes her to the ground, he swore that if Penny disobeys his order she will cower.
He breaks the roof of The Creator’s office, and he rises for global domination as he is willing to take risks to achieve his destiny. Penny begs him to stop but stubbornly ignores her and continues causing a lot more chaos and doom, even when he was forcing her to get out of his way, Penny refused and finally Virus Master was done with her by knocking her off a tower as she fell into the chasm below. Virus Master was triumphantly successful after his magic causing attempted domination and genocide.
Final Showdown and Death[]
During his final confrontation with Rita, he implies to kill her as well. After face to face, Virus Master was angered at Penny for foiling his plan and blames that she is going to regret it, Penny accepts her regret for destroying everything. However, Penny steps on the Gem of the staff, she defeats Virus Master, and he disintegrates after obliterating the gem of the staff

- Virus Master is similar to Turbo from DreamWorks rival Disney's film Wreck-it Ralph: both wanted to take over the digital world (Virus Master for Penny; Turbo for Ralph) and they are certainly the most powerful and evil.
- Virus Master's voice actor, Jude Law, also voiced Pitch Black from Rise of the Guardians.
- Virus Master is certainly seen as the most evil villain of the Mr. Peabody and Sherman movie franchise due to attempted murder and cruelty for pushing Penny from the tower into the chasm, he even assaults his Virus bot after overhearing about a Human girl Penny who entered Virtual World, and he is responsible for the mass domination to the Virtual World.
- Virus Master is the third villain of the Mr. Peabody and Sherman Sequel Trilogy to die after Psychris and Red Flame.
- He is a darker version of his younger brother, The Creator.
- Unlike Penny Peterson, who was the false antagonist of Mr. Peabody and Sherman who redeemed herself for her previous actions as the movie progresses, Virus Master's heart is stone cold to the idea of being reformed, and he does not ever redeem himself as he is an irredeemably evil and malevolent character.
- Virus Master is the third male main antagonist to go up against a female protagonist in a DreamWorks film after Gallaxhar from Monsters vs. Aliens and Hendricks from Spirit: Untamed.
- During his death scene, as thanks to Penny for stepping on the gem of the staff from using it to disintegrating every human and avatar species of its own life. Without Ren’s life force to keep him living, he ends up turning into gold pixels. Referencing the scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where Ego’s human avatar disintegrates and his planet form explodes.
- Virus Master is another Mr. Peabody and Sherman villain to be considered to be one of the darkest DreamWorks villain along side Rameses, Mrs. Tweedy, Tai Lung, Gallaxhar, Rumpelstiltskin, Lord Shen, Pitch Black, Drago Bludvist, Kai the Collector, Grimmel the Grisly, Dr. Zara, Red Flame, and Death.
