Transcript[]
Narrator: "Sawtooth is a beaver who lives at a big race track on Wacky Races Land. He's a cheeky little beaver with two webbed feet, a pair of buck teeth, a scarf and helmet, and a short, stumpy tail.
He's a fussy little beaver, too. Always bringing log cars ready for the Wacky Racers to bring out on long journeys.
And when Wacky Racers come in, he takes the empty log cars away so that the Wacky Racers can go and rest.
Sawtooth thinks no Wacky Racer works as hard as he does. He loves playing tricks on them, including Rufus Ruffcut, the biggest and proudest Lumberjack of all.
Sawtooth likes whistling rudely at him."
Sawtooth: "Wake up, lazy bones! Why don't you work hard, like me!"
Narrator: "One day, after taking a big pile of logs from the forest, Rufus arrived back at the pit stop, very tired. He was just going to sleep when Sawtooth came up in his cheeky way."
Sawtooth: "Wake up, lazy bones! Do some hard work for a change! You can't catch me!"
Narrator: "And off he ran, laughing.
Instead of going to sleep again, Rufus thought how he could get back at Sawtooth.
One morning, Sawtooth wouldn't wake up. His animator couldn't make him start. His stamina was low and there was not enough strength. It was nearly time for the express. People were waiting, but the log cars weren't ready.
At last, Sawtooth started."
Sawtooth: "Oh dear, oh dear!"
Narrator: "He yawned.
He fussed into the station, where Rufus was waiting."
Rufus Ruffcut: "Hurry up, you."
Narrator: "Said Rufus."
Sawtooth: "Hurry yourself!"
Narrator: "Replied Sawtooth.
Rufus began making his plan."
Rufus Ruffcut: "Yes,"
Narrator: "Said Rufus,"
Rufus Ruffcut: "I will."
Narrator: "And almost before the log cars stopped moving, Rufus reversed quickly, and hooked the Buzzwagon to the first log car."
Rufus: "Get in quickly, please."
Narrator: "He whistled.
Sawtooth usually pushed behind the log cars to hep them start. But he was always unhooked first. This time, Rufus started so quickly, they forgot to unhook Sawtooth. Rufus' chance had come."
Rufus Ruffcut: "Come on, come on!"
Narrator: "Puffed Rufus to the log cars.
The line went faster and faster. Too fast for Sawtooth. He wanted to stop, but he couldn't."
Sawtooth: "Hey, hey! Stop, stop!"
Rufus Ruffcut: "Hurry, hurry, hurry!"
Narrator: "Laughed Rufus."
Log Cars: "You can't get away, you can't get away!"
Narrator: "Laughed the log cars.
Poor Sawtooth was going faster than he had ever gone before. He was out of breath, and his feet hurt him, but he had to go on."
Sawtooth: "I shall never be the same again."
Narrator: "He thought sadly."
Sawtooth: "My feet will be quite worn out."
Narrator: "At last, they stopped at a station.
Sawtooth was unhooked, and he felt very silly and exhausted.
Next, he sat on a turntable, thinking of everyone laughing at him.
And then he ran onto a path, out of the way."
Rufus Ruffcut: "Well, little Sawtooth,"
Narrator: "Chuckled Rufus."
Rufus Ruffcut: "Now you know what hard work means, don't you?"
Narrator: "Poor Sawtooth couldn't answer. He had no breath. He just puffed slowly away to rest, and had a long, long drink.
He went home very slowly, and was careful afterwards never to be cheeky to Rufus again."
