Rita Beckett or simply known as Rita is the Deuteragonist of DreamWorks 2023 animated feature film Penny. She is Penny Peterson’s Best Friend, and a skilled Player.
She has escaped from her Universe to travel to the Virtual World, after her Parents died. She has gained skill in Martial arts and swordsmanship by being a great gamer.
She is voiced by Scarlett Johansson. who also played Ash in Sing (2016) & Sing 2 (2021), and portrayed Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Appearance[]
Rita is a tall 17-year old teenage Woman with fair skin, a Gunmetal Jacket with Red shirt, Blue jeans, and black short hair, eyebrows and shoes, brown eyes, freckles and red lip gloss.
Personality[]
Rita is a very heroic, brave, and tough teenage woman. She seems clever while playing A Virtual Reality Tron Racing Game in the Interactive Zone. But she can also be stubborn at first when meeting Penny, because she never had any friends before.
She appears to be protective and fearless facing Nucollosal the Dragon in The Abandoned Kingdom.
History[]
Childhood and Early Life[]
Her life started with her living with her family in an apartment in San Francisco. They loved her so much, as they went to the movies and played golf. She lived a nice and peaceful life chilling in her bedroom before checking on her Parents, until they appeared sick of illness. Rita’s Mom and Dad had one last moment of convincing Rita to have more freedom before permanently becoming sick and dies.
With her Family gone, Rita starts crying with all these tears mourning about her Parents deaths in the Graveyard. She continues crying in her bedroom until nine years later, when she grows up to be a teenager, she has decided to escape from the human world and travel the Virtual Reality World, realizing there was a VR headset sitting on the desk for her.
Meeting Penny[]
While Rita was playing virtual reality Tron racing in the Interactive Simulation Zone, she was in first place. Even when Penny discovers her, Rita stubbornly turns her back on Penny and tries to walk away from her.
Penny definitely loved the way she learned Rita’s skills, Penny tries to convince her to listen but Rita get’s enraged for a second. However, she decides to introduce herself to Penny by greeting her. Once Penny left the Interactive Simulation Zone, a Virus Bot discovered Penny had arrived on Virtual World.
Beginning the Quest for the Three Dimensions[]
After The Creator gives Penny advice on going to three different virtual dimensions, Rita decides to help and work with Penny. As they were about to travel, until the Galactic Four wanted to join them. They traveled through a portal.
Abandoned Kingdom[]
When they arrive at the Abandoned Kingdom, Rita decides to find a sword and shield, just in case Penny and The Galactic Four are in danger by a fire breathing dragon. While Penny and her gang go into the dungeon below to find the first anti-virus shield inside the ferocious Nuclear Dragon called Nucollosal. But if they wake him up, Nucollosal will roast them all.
Unfortunately when Penny accidentally dropped her torch on the ground loudly, Nucollosal awakens by breaking out of these chains, and breathes atomic fire out of his mouth, killing them until Rita defends Penny and The Galactic Four. Rita warns them to run, while she takes care of the dragon all by herself. She jumps high on top of Nucollosal while he breathes atomic fire, Rita slashes his sword on him. However she falls off Nucollosal and lands on the ground, while Nucollosal goes after the kids.
Stone Labyrinth[]
During the next level on Stone Labyrinth, Rita and Penny and The Galactic Four advise to split up into two pairs, while she and Penny are the only two who can work together so they can get the second anti-virus shield from the center of the maze.
As they begin the next level, Simon and Simon were being chased by one green boulder, and Jennifer and Lucy were also chased by the other boulder which is light blue. Meanwhile, Rita and Penny were running but caught up by the zombie hands grabbing on them. They were disgusted by them for pulling, until Rita uses her sword and chops the zombie’s hand, then they continue running in the Labyrinth. And once they passed the challenge of peril, they finally made it to the center of the maze. Penny grabs the second anti-virus shield from the center.
Finishing the Quest[]
By the time they were half way through their journey, The Galactic Four decided to go back to Virtual World to let Penny and Rita finish the quest to find the final anti-virus shield on Rainbow Land.
Rainbow Land[]
Finally Penny and Rita have reached the last VR Dimension called Rainbow Land, the most colorful and most iconic places suspended in space. Rita wasn’t sure if she was used to rainbows or color due to her stubbornness and loneliness, but she certainly was capable of having fun after Penny joyfully slid down the rainbow slide.
They jump on colorful steps, Penny offers her to jump on the cloud for playfulness and she accepts. They fly on the same cloud and travel around Rainbow Land. With Penny pretending to be a pop star and Rita dancing for fun. They both took a selfie together. Rita was so content for all of the enjoyment on Rainbow Land, even Penny agrees with that. Penny mischievously farted in front of her and Rita was annoyed by how Penny let out gas all of the sudden.
