Backstory: This is Julieta and Agustin's second-youngest daughter of age 17 (Mirabel is 15, Luisa is 19, and Isabella is 21), Raquel. She has the gift of oceanic powers; she can produce water at any size from her hands (whether they're tiny droplets or big tidal waves), and has a sea lion pup for a pet called Victor. Raquel has a very close bond with Mirabel, as Raquel sympathizes with her sister for not getting a gift and feeling left out; Raquel likes to entertain Mirabel and her other family members with oceanic tricks, but she also has "granny issues" with Alma, just like Mirabel does. Raquel also has a complicated relationship with Isabella, as the former thinks the latter is a vain and spoiled brat.
One day, Mirabel notices that the magical house is slowly losing its magic, and she tries to warn her family members. It seems the only person who will listen is Raquel, who aids Mirabel in finding answers: why the family doesn't talk about Tio Bruno, the feelings beneath Luisa and Isabella, and what should be done to help keep the family together.
