Transcript[]
Narrator: "Rock and Gravel are twins, and have arrived from Cave Land to help the Announcer, but only one caveman had been expected. The twins meant well, but did cause confusion. The Announcer had given them numbers; Rock 9, and Gravel 10, but he was still planning to send one caveman home.
There was a dog named Mumbly in the yard that had taken a dislike to Gravel. Things always went wrong when he had to take it out. His work was late, and he was blamed. Gravel began to worry.
Rock, his twin, was angry."
Rock Slag: "You're a muckle nuisance!"
Narrator: "Said Rock."
Rock Slag: "It's to leave you behind I'd be wanting!"
Mumbly: "You can't."
Narrator: "Said Mumbly."
Mumbly: "I'm essential."
Rock Slag: "Ach! Are you?"
Narrator: "Rock burst out."
Rock Slag: "You're nothing but a screechin' and a noise when all's said and done. Spite Gravel, would you? Take that!"
Mumbly: "Oh! Ow ow!"
Narrator: "Cried Mumbly."
Rock Slag: "There's more coming, should you misbehave."
Narrator: "Mumbly behaved better after that. Until one day, Rock had an accident.
The road was slippery. He couldn't stop in time."
(CRASH!)
"The Announcer was most annoyed."
Announcer: "I am disappointed, Rock. I did not expect such, um... clumsiness from you.
I have decided to send Gravel back and keep you."
Rock Slag: "I'm sorry, sir."
Narrator: "Said Rock."
Announcer: "I should think so, too. You have upset my arrangements. Now Red Max will have to help with the goods work, while you are mended. Red Max won't like that."
Narrator: "The Announcer was right. Red Max grumbled dreadfully."
Gravel Slag: "Anyone would think,"
Narrator: "Said Gravel
Gravel Slag: "That Rock had his accident on purpose.
I heard tell about a pilot and some tar barrels."
Red Max: "Shut up!"
Narrator: "Said Red Max."
Red Max: "It's not funny!"
Narrator: "He didn't like to be reminded of his own accident."
Gravel Slag: "Well, well, well,"
Narrator: "Said Gravel,"
Gravel Slag: "Surely, Red Max, it wasn't you. You didn't say!"
Narrator: "Red Max didn't say. He slouched sulkily away."
Mumbly: "He's cross."
Narrator: "Snickered Mumbly."
Mumbly: "We'll try to make him crosser still."
Alligators: "Hold back!"
Narrator: "Giggled the Alligators to each other.
Red Max did his best, but he was exhausted when they reached Peter's station.
Luckily, Gravel was there."
Red Max: "Help me up the hill, please." (Pant)
Narrator: "Panted Red Max."
Red Max: "These Alligators are playing tricks."
Gravel Slag: "We'll show them!"
Narrator: "Said Gravel.
Slowly but surely, the snorting racers forced the Alligators up the hill, but Red Max was losing breath."
Red Max: "I can't do it! I can't do it!"
Gravel Slag: "Leave it to me!"
Narrator: "Shouted Gravel.
The Animator was anxious."
Animator: "Go steady! Mumbly's breaking!"
Narrator: "Mumbly was in pieces.
No one had been hurt, and soon Peter came to clear the mess. The Announcer was on board."
Announcer: "I might have known it would be Gravel!"
Narrator: "He said."
Peter Perfect: "Gravel was grand, sir."
Narrator: "Said Peter."
Peter Perfect: "Red Max had no breath left, but Gravel worked hard enough for three. I heard him from my yard."
Announcer: "Two would have been enough."
Narrator: "Said the Announcer."
Announcer: "I want to be fair, Gravel, but... I don't know. I really don't know."
Narrator: "The Announcer was making up his mind about something. But that's another story."
