King Felman is the eldest in his royal family. At the age of ten, he discovered a magic crystal that, when touched, granted him the powers of manipulating fire and ice. While his new powers did amaze his two younger sisters, his parents and the rest of the townsfolk were wary of him, as they feared his abilities to control two powerful elements may result in disaster. As a result, he decided to train himself for years, gaining control of his powers. While his sisters were married off to kings of neighboring kingdoms, Felman earned the title of King of Varland. He married a young woman named Stina, one of the castle servants he met who helped him come out of his shell. They had two daughters: Elsa and Anna. However, Stina died giving birth to Anna, so Felman gave his daughters away to Iduna so that they can have a proper mother and be protected from anyone who wanted to abuse their powers.
Like a typical good king, Felman is compassionate, orderly, and rational. He'd rather take the pacifist approach and attempt to negotiate with any neighboring kingdom before being involved in a conflict. His advisors often question his choices, but Felman says he has to do this so that people won't think of him as a chaotic dictator. Some nobles even call him a downright coward. Even to this day, due to how he grew up, Felman is wary about the outside world and often expresses concerns when leaving the castle. The only one to lessen these worries is Ester, his companion who happens to once be a feared creature. The only time he's ever excited to leave the castle is during festivals, where he often makes magic shows with his powers. Felman longs to be some sort of father figure in his three niece's lives, feeling guilty that he wasn't able to help Arianna when Rapunzel was kidnapped and not being able to let the Arendelle Sisters find the beauty in their powers.
