Biography[]
This is Kayleigh, Miguel's best friend and love interest.
When they were both six-years-old, Miguel was wandering about in Santa Cecilia when he heard the beautiful singing of Kayleigh. Entranced by her voice, Miguel watches as she sings on the streets and earning money. Miguel donates his allowance to her savings, and the two become friends as they bond over their love for music. Unfortunately, Miguel's love for music is forced to be kept secret, as his family has had a traditional ban on music, after Miguel's great-great grandfather left and never returned (as we all know). So, Miguel lies to his family on how he met Kayleigh; offering her a shoe-shine.
Unbeknownst to each other, Miguel and Kayleigh have secret crushes on each other. However, they both seem too reluctant to admit it. In each of their cases; Miguel feared Kayleigh might laugh at him, and Kayleigh worried she might embarrass him. Especially when people consider them "boyfriend and girlfriend." So, for now, they consider each other as "just friends."
Her dream is to become a singer, just like her grandmother, Alejandra, was in her youthful days. However, she fears that this could make the Riveras forbid Miguel from seeing her. So, she keeps her singing tales a secret from the Riveras. Alejandra gives her advice that she can do whatever her mind puts her into.
Kayleigh also is very suspicious and curious about lots of things. She keeps having a feeling that Miguel's great-great grandfather did try to come home at one point. But the problem was, if he did, then something must have happened to him.
Kayleigh also has a habit of giggling at certain things, being described as "rather inclined to giggle, doesn't seem to put things away" similar to Jane Banks' personality description from Mary Poppins.
