Kai Itsuki or shortly known as Kai is the titular main protagonist of Disney/Pixar's 2022 animated feature film, Kai: The Legend of the Heroes. And he is set to return as the main protagonist of Disney/Pixar's 2024 animated sequel, Kai II: Defender of Japan. He is a 17-year-old Japanese boy, and a son of his father Hideyoshi and his mother Misaki, and the grandson of his grandfather Master Yu, who goes on a quest to find the Heroes of Japan.
He is voiced by Dave Franco who also voiced Lloyd Garmadon from The Lego Ninjago Movie.

- Kai is the second Asian protagonist in a Pixar movie after Mei Lee from Turning Red (2022).
- Kai bears a striking resemblance to Hiro Hamada from Big Hero 6 (2014), and to Kubo from Kubo and the Two Strings (2016). Both of them share an innovative and curious attitude. They also both strive to discover their destiny.
- At one point during the scene where Kai, Hosato, Sakura and the Heroes of Japan enters the Waterfall summit scene, He says "To the stone, and beyond!" Instead of saying "To infinity, and beyond" Which was a reference to the Pixar's first CGI film, Toy Story.
