Transcript[]
Narrator: "One winter's night, when the cold wind blew, the Wacky Racers found it hard to sleep."
Professor Pat Pending: "What we need,"
Narrator: "Suggested Professor Pat Pending,"
Professor Pat Pending: "Is to listen to a story."
Private Meekly: "Yes,"
Narrator: "Said Private Meekly,"
Private Meekly: "A mysterious story."
Lazy Luke: "But,"
Narrator: "Added Luke,"
Lazy Luke: "It must have a happy ending."
Sawtooth: "My animator told me a story,"
Narrator: "Said Sawtooth, so everyone listened."
Sawtooth: "Once upon a time,"
Narrator: "Began Sawtooth."
Sawtooth: "There were three little men, who lived in their own little house, on their own little village. Their names were Clyde, Dum-Dum, and Yak-Yak. Clyde was the oldest, and was named after his grace, Duke Clyde.
He was proud of this, and liked to keep the younger men in order.
Whenever they did anything that Clyde thought wrong, he would say,"
Clyde: "That would never suit his grace."
Sawtooth: "Other men came and went, but Clyde outlasted them all.
Dum-Dum and Yak-Yak used to call him 'Granhill Mob'. They were fond of him, but they got very tired of hearing all bout 'his grace'.
Sometimes, they would tese him and chant,"
Ring-a-Ding/Dum-Dum & Yak-Yak/Danny: "Men come and men go, Clyde goes on forever."
Clyde: "You impertinent scallywags!"
Sawtooth: "Clyde would say."
Clyde: "Whatever are you men coming to?"
Ring-a-Ding/Dum-Dum: "Never mind, Granhill Mob. We're only young once."
Clyde: "Well, you better mind. Unless you want to end up like Dippy."
Ring-a-Ding/Dum-Dum: "Oh, Granhill Mob, what ever happened?"
Clyde: "Dippy,"
Sawtooth: "Said Clyde,"
Clyde: "Was a show-off!
He rode roughly, and often lost his loads.
I warned him to be careful, but he took no notice."
Dippy: "Listen, Clydy,"
Clyde: "He said,"
Dippy: "Who worries about a few spills?"
Clyde: "'We do here,' I said, but Dippy just laughed."
Dippy: "He he he he he!"
Clyde: "Until one day, manager said he was going to make him useful at last. Dippy stopped laughing then."
Ring-a-Ding/Dum-Dum: "Well, why? What did he do?"
Clyde: "He turned him into a generator. He's still out there behind our house. He'll never move again."
Sawtooth: "After that, Dum-Dum and Yak-Yak became really useful me, and all three were happy together for many years.
Then, hard times came.
The mines in the hills closed, and the village was closed, too.
People came to buy the men."
Passengers: "We'll take Dum-Dum and Yak-Yak."
Sawtooth: "No one wanted Clyde. They thought him 'Too old'."
Ring-a-Ding/Dum-Dum: "Cheer up, Granhill Mob."
Sawtooth: "Called Dum-Dum."
Ring-a-Ding/Dum-Dum: "We'll find you a nice village, and then you can come and keep us in order."
Sawtooth: "They tried to be brave and cheerful, but no one really thought their dreams would come true.
Clyde's animators ploished and greased him one last time. They sheeted him snugly, and said good-bye. Then they had to go away and find work.
Clyde was alone."
Clyde: "Oh, well."
Sawtooth: "He sighed."
Clyde: "I'll go to sleep. It'll help to pass the time."
Sawtooth: "Winter torrents washed soils from the hills. Trees and bushes grew all around.
You wouldn't have known a house was there, let alone a little man asleep inside."
Private Meekly: "That's not a happy ending!"
Narrator: "Cried Private Meekly."
Sawtooth: "Ah,"
Narrator: "Murmured Sawtooth."
Sawtooth: "There will be one, but that will have to wait until next time."
