Batman Beyond

Batman Beyond is an animated action sci fi superhero series that aired on Kids WB from 1999 to 2001 with three seasons. It takes place in the future where Bruce Wayne has retired as Batman and Gotham is a criminal wasteland, however a young teenager named Terry McGinnis has become the new Batman mentored by Wayne to fight crime

History[]

The show was concived by Emmy winners Bruce Timm and Paul Dini who had worked on Batman and Superman for Warner Bros Animation. After they had completed The New Batman Adventures they decided to figure out a new Batman series so they had the idea of it taking place in the future and having a new Batman fighting crime in Gotham.

The series premiered in January 1999 and was an instant success becoming Kids WB's highest rated show until Pokemon broke that record the following month.
